The 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup will be the tenth Cricket World Cup, and will be hosted by three South Asian Test cricket playing countries; India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It will be Bangladesh's first time co-hosting a Cricket World Cup. The World Cup will be Played as per One Day International format, with fourteen national cricket teams scheduled to compete. The World Cup will take place during the months of February and March 2011, The opening ceremony of the world cup scheduled to be on Febraury 17th at sher-e-bangla stadium, dhaka, bangladesh with the first match being played between india and bangladesh on 19 February 2011 in the same venue. A total of 49 matches will be played in the 43-day tournament tournament, which was reallocated following the International Cricket Council's decision to drop Pakistan as a co-host because of security concerns.there will be 49 matches will be played in this world cup out them 29 in India(8 grounds), 12 in Srilanka(3 grounds), and 8 in Bangladesh (2 grounds). Pakistan’s 14 matches transferred India( , Srilanka (4) and Bangladesh(2).

The launch was presided by ICC president Mr.HAROON LORGAT, ICC vice-president Mr. SHARAD PAWAR and ICC world cup 2011 Tournament Director Prof.RATNAKAR SHETTY, Bangladesh Cricket association Chairmen Mr.Ahm Mustafa Kamal, BCCI president Mr. Shashank Manohar and Sri lankan cricket association President Mr.Somachandra de Silva were present in the launch. The 14 teams are divided into 2 groups with the teams in GROUP A

and GROUP B.









The ICC president Mr Haroon lorgat stated that," THE WORLD CUP IS A FLAFSHIP TOURNAMENT OF ICC AND THE TOURNAMENT WILL BE A SUCCESS AND WILL MAKE SURE THAT THE 50-50 FORMAT WILL BE THERE FOR LONG TIME". Also ICC vice president Mr sharad pawar stated that," the sub continent has worshipped cricket as a relegion and the tournament being conducted in India for 3rd time and after a gap of 13 years". He also stated that," the wankhede stadium in mumbai is under renovation for world cup 2011, will have the best facilities and will be considered as a marvel in India". It was Bangladesh cricket board president Mr.Ahm Mustafa Kamal unvieled the schedule of the tournaments Opening ceremony, opening fixture and the matches to be played in bangladesh then The sri lankan cricket board president Mr. Somachandra de Silva unvieled the matches to be played in Srilanka and BCCI president Mr shashank manohar unvieled the matches to be played in India.

The matches will be palyed in 13 stadiums in 3 countries in the sub-continent out of which there will 2 new stadiums apart from premadasa stadium in sri lanka. As said earlier the Mumbai wankhede stadium is under renovation for the world cup. Cricket has always been a sensation in the indian sub continent with the crowds enjoying the game and the spectators have always been the pulse of the home teams.
